Live Memento Mori

Life is short. That’s not morbid—it’s motivating.

Memento Mori is Latin for “Remember, you will die.”

It’s a timeless reminder to live with purpose today—and prepare with love for tomorrow.

We created Live Memento Mori to help families like ours live more intentionally, while also protecting what matters most.

This isn’t just about having a bucket list or chasing big dreams. It’s about showing up fully for your family now—and making sure they’re cared for, even if life takes an unexpected turn.

Our Mission

To empower families to live intentionally, love deeply, and plan wisely—so nothing essential is left unsaid, undone, or unprotected.

Our Vision

A world where families are fully present and fully prepared—living with clarity and courage, nurturing meaningful relationships, and leaving behind not just memories, but a well-planned legacy.

Our Values

(Or What we call: “Seven Habits of Intentional Families”)

Live Each Day with Purpose

Approach every day as an opportunity to make conscious choices aligned with your family’s core values. Ask yourselves regularly: ‘What really matters to us today?’

Keep Growing, Together

Make ongoing learning and shared growth central to your family culture. Whether it’s trying new things, reading together, or exploring hobbies—grow as a family unit.

Make a Meaningful Impact

Aim to leave the world better by modeling kindness, contribution, and meaningful service. Reflect together often: “How did we make a difference today?”

Practice Gratitude and Generosity

Teach and model appreciation by regularly expressing gratitude for everyday moments. Cultivate generosity by giving freely of your time, attention, and resources.

Communicate with Love and Intention

Prioritize deep, meaningful communication. Foster an environment where family members feel heard, valued, and understood.

Plan for the Future, Live in the Present

Strike a balance between enjoying today’s precious moments and responsibly preparing for tomorrow’s security. This includes practical steps like creating trusts, planning for retirement, and safeguarding your legacy.

Choose Progress Over Perfection

Encourage continuous improvement without the stress of perfection. Celebrate small steps forward and growth rather than perfect outcomes.

The Hood Family (‘Ohana)

We’re Jim and Beth Hood, the husband-and-wife team behind Live Memento Mori.

We’re not here as polished influencers or perfect planners—we’re parents, business owners, and lifelong learners who took a hard look at our own lives and realized… we weren’t as prepared as we thought we were.

So we stopped. We did the work.
We created our trust, named our guardians, retitled our assets—and then became trained estate planning professionals so we could help other families do the same.

That journey led to the creation of the Family Peace of Mind Plan—a practical, done-with-you process that combines professional guidance with real-world heart.

Hood Family

We’ve been married 24 years and live on a rural homestead in Arkansas with our daughter, Nora, our Great Pyrenees Bear, two cats, two rabbits, and more chickens than we can count.

Our life started on the Big Island of Hawaii (and still carries aloha in everything we do), but now we spend our days homeschooling, building businesses, and helping families create legacy plans with heart and clarity.

We’re so glad you’re here.
Let’s make the most of this life—and leave nothing undone.

With aloha,

Jim & Beth
